How to choose and use water extinguishers
Where to use them
Water extinguishers are made for Class A fires: wood, paper, cloth, cardboard, rubber and most plastics. They suit warehouses, godowns, textile and paper stores, schools and residential buildings, usually alongside ABC or CO₂ extinguishers for other risks.
Never on electrical or oil fires
Ordinary water conducts electricity and makes burning oil splash and spread. Do not use a water-type extinguisher on live electrical equipment, cooking oil or flammable liquids. Keep CO₂, foam or kitchen (K-Type) extinguishers for those risks.
Water mist, care and servicing
Water mist breaks the water into very fine droplets that cool the fire quickly with far less water damage. Check every extinguisher monthly (gauge, seal, access), service it at least once a year and refill it after use. FIRENET services and refills water extinguishers.

No. Use a CO₂ or clean agent extinguisher on electrical equipment, and switch off the power if it is safe to do so.
